When Cincinnati-based comedian Adam Minnick talks about Logansport, he doesn’t sound like someone just passing through town. He sounds like someone who genuinely enjoys being here. The Logansport Press sat down with Adam and talk about his upcoming show at the State Theatre this Friday February 13, 2026.

“I love doing shows in old theaters,” Minnick said. “There’s something about the history and the vibe of it. We were here last year and it was an amazing time, a great vibe, and a good turnout.”

While Minnick performs across the country, he says historic venues and engaged small-town audiences often create some of the best energy.

“They treat you like an all-star out there,” he said. “It’s really nice.”

A Commitment to Clean Comedy

In a comedy landscape that often leans into controversy, Minnick has built his career around clean material.

“I don’t talk politics. I don’t do religion or immigration or that kind of stuff,” he said. “It’s just clean comedy.”

For Minnick, clean doesn’t mean dull — it means relatable. He describes his comedy as largely PG-13, occasionally pushing boundaries but never relying on shock value.

His material centers on marriage, raising his child, navigating in-laws, traveling, and the everyday chaos of family life. It’s comedy that draws from shared experience rather than shock value. This approach has allowed him to perform for a wide range of audiences, from comedy clubs to college campuses, without sacrificing sharpness or authenticity.

A National and International Career

Minnick’s 20-year career spans clubs and venues across the United States and internationally.

Adam Minnick

He has performed at major comedy venues across the United States, including Dry Bar Comedy in Provo, Utah, the Improv Comedy Club in Chicago, the Punch Line in Philadelphia, and Harvey’s Comedy Club in Portland, Oregon. His performances have also taken him abroad to Dublin, Perth, and Stockholm.

In addition to comedy clubs, Minnick has performed at colleges and universities such as Holy Cross College in Notre Dame, Indiana, and the University of Findlay in Ohio.

His style combines observational humor with stories of traveling, teaching, sports, and family that are shaped in part by growing up in the small town of Napoleon, Ohio, spending time in Perth, Australia, and traveling extensively in between.

Beyond stand-up, Minnick is also a writer, podcaster, producer, and published children’s author. His book, The Adventures of My Crazy Uncle Adam, has sold domestically and internationally. He hosts the podcast “What the Fork?”, which explores the creative process behind comedy and culinary arts, pairing comedians and chefs to discuss how jokes — and meals — come together.

His most recent project, a film titled Forgotten, tells the true story of his grandparents’ experiences during World War II and has been accepted into the New Filmmakers Film Festival in New York City. Minnick has also been heard on 700 WLW and featured in the nationally distributed publication Eclectic Magazine.

Joining the Show: Justin Seymour

Minnick will be joined on stage by comedian Justin Seymour, who brings his own strong résumé to the State Theatre.

Seymour previously performed in Logansport and said he was impressed by the beauty of the historic venue.

Like Minnick, Seymour did not begin his career in comedy. The two first met while teaching. Minnick taught Government and History, while Seymour taught Psychology — before both ultimately transitioned into stand-up full-time.

Seymour has appeared on The Bob & Tom Show, performed at the Miami Comedy Festival, and was a finalist in Indy’s Funniest competition. His experience performing across the Midwest and beyond has helped build a reputation for sharp, engaging stand-up that complements Minnick’s clean and relatable style.

Together, the two comedians bring a mix of classroom experience, life perspective, and professional touring credentials to the Logansport stage.

From Bombing to Breakthrough

Like many comedians, Minnick’s path began humbly. At his first open mic, he had five minutes scheduled but only prepared three. That persistence, however, eventually developed into a career.

“I went up and bombed horribly,” he said. “It was brutal.”

He remembers leaving the stage, walking to the back of the room, and putting his head down on a table. It was the last time he invited friends to see him perform for quite a while.

But instead of quitting, he kept writing and kept showing up.

“Just keep getting up and keep writing,” he said. “After a couple of years, it started clicking.”

That persistence eventually turned into a career that now spans clubs, colleges, festivals, and international stages, all while maintaining a clean and thoughtful comedic voice.

Why Come?

Minnick believes comedy provides something simple but powerful: relief.

“If you go, laughter is a great way to forget about your problems for 90 minutes,” he said. “If you’ve never been to a comedy show, this is a good one to come to.”

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and wraps up around 9 p.m., making it an easy Friday night outing. With Valentine’s Day weekend approaching, Minnick suggests making it a date night.

“If you want an escape from everything that’s going on right now, this is a good show to come to,” he said.

For those looking for a night of clean, intelligent, and relatable comedy in a historic setting, the State Theatre performance offers exactly that.

The show takes place Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the State Theatre in Logansport.
