Mary Elizabeth Sample, 65, Logansport, Indiana, was surrounded by her family when she passed away late Sunday evening, March 22, 2026, in Woodbridge Health Campus, following a brief illness.
Born May 12, 1960, in Logansport, daughter of Jack Gordon Sample and Rita Ann (Meyers) Sample.
A 1978 graduate of Logansport High School, Mary furthered her education at Indiana University where she majored in English. She received a Bachelor of Art degree with a certification to teach. During her senior year, Mary studied abroad and completed her student teaching at a school in England.
For many years, Mary helped her parents manage the Pleasant Hill Greenhouse & Flower Shop. In their later years, she was a godsend to her parents and devoted her life as their caregiver. Mary grew up in the Baptist Temple, where she learned to place her hope and faith in the Lord to see her through whatever came her way. She rescued her beloved canine companion, Jazz, from a shelter. Mary was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan. She and her parents had season tickets to the Purdue Women’s Basketball games for many years.
Surviving with her mother, Rita Ann Sample, are her siblings: brother, Sam (Pam) Sample, and Michael (Jhani) Sample, and sister, Sue Ann (Tim) Specht; and seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Father, Jack Gordon Sample.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, March 26, in Fisher Funeral Chapel. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will begin at 11 a.m. with Dawn Fisher officiating
Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
